Come rain or shine, NWS families know how to have a good time!!!

    This was the first year we ever had to worry about rain and also worry about what we would do…

       We decided to hold our 4^th annual Fun Fest inside, for the first time. We were very scared that we wouldn’t pull it together in time, but with the help of staff and dedicated parents WE DID IT! Then we were worried that with the rain we would not have a good turn out. Silly us! NWS families and staff came out in the pouring rain to join us for the day.

      When they entered the building they could smell the delicious hamburgers and hotdogs we had going on grills, they could also smell the hot popcorn and cotton candy. They were greeted at the door by PTO members and were able to buy tickets right there. As the families headed into the building further they heard the sounds of laughter and the sounds of a live DJ! Children and adults alike were able to play a few games in the hall as they made their way to the gym. As they entered the gym the first thing they saw was the HUGE inflatable jumper that was INSIDE for the kids to use. Did you see it? It almost took up half the gym!! The NW Fire Dept was standing by as well. They could not fit their trucks inside but they did park them out front for kids to enjoy.

      As families made their way through the crowd to find a game to play or to find their friends, they were greeted with laughter in every direction. In the center of the gym we had our famous cake walk again which was run by our very own math teacher Ms. Dudek. The cakes were beautiful! Did you see the bubble gum cake? It had a real gum ball machine on top! WOW I wonder who won that cake??? (I think it was a second grader) I don’t know about you, but I saw a lot of kids winning fish! LIVE FISH!!! WOW, some of them won more than once! Did you get to try that game?

     UCONN and ECSU students volunteered their time to help out too, they were great! Did you see the face paints they did? FANTASTIC!!

We also had our basket raffle again in the café. The teachers decided on a theme and their class brought in the supplies to fill the basket. They were so beautiful and BIG. Those that won a basket were very lucky! They won some nice things!

      We hope that you and your family were able to join us, and that if you did you had a great time. If you were not able to make it, sorry you missed it. We hope to see everyone again next year and we will cross our fingers for a bright sunny sky!
