Dear Parents,
We hope you enjoy the pictures and news in the third of our quarterly before and after school newsletters. Although the winter has been very cold recently, our programs have been actively engaging your children in a varity of activities and trips. Hopefully, you were able to participate in some of them.
As part of ongoing professional development for our staff, three of the site coordinators participated in an after school conference in Jacksonville, Florida in February (see pictures in the newsletter). On Saturday, April 5th,2008 all four site coordinators and I, along with some of the teacher assistants on staff, will be participating in workshops at the After School Conference in Trumbull. This annual conference is sponsored by the Connecticut After School Network and offers a variety of learning workshops for the after school staff.
In June, the Windham Community Welcome Center and our after school program staff will be holding an after school fair for our community parents. It will be a family affair during which parents can talk with different before and after school providers while the children are being supervised by our after school staff. We will be inviting all of the before and after school providers that we can identify in our community. We want to give you a good idea of the programs that are available to your children throughout the year. We will send a flyer out to families next month with all the information.
As always, if you have any ideas of things you would like to see happen in our programs at the schools, please contact your site coordinator, or call my office at 465-2595. Thank you for allowing us to work with your kids.
Sincerely,
Bill Stover
